人文历史
据古人相传《绛县志》记载：樱桃沟，一在县北十五里东，名小沟；一在县西南三十里，名大沟。……大沟尤佳，延十余里。
樱桃沟的樱桃不仅品种多，据现《县志》记载：有紫樱、腊樱、滑台樱、朱皮樱、早樱、吴樱、甜果子、急溜子、千叶樱等11种。历代文人墨客都写下了许多咏赞樱桃的诗篇。
唐太宗李世民不仅爱吃樱桃，而且给后人留诗一首：
《赋得樱桃》
华林满芳景，洛阳遍阳春。
朱颜含远日，翠色影长津。
乔柯啭娇鸟，低枝映美人。
昔作园中实，今来席上珍。
这首诗在《山西省农业资源丛书——运城卷》，《绛县志》及相关农业杂志中均有记载。
HumanisticHistory
Accordingtothelegendoftheancientsinthe“AnnalsofJiangxian”,CherryGullyislocated7.5kmnortheastofthecounty,namedXiaogou.Oneislocated15kmsouthwestofthecounty,namedDagou.TheDagouisparticularlybeautiful,stretchingformorethan5km.
TherearemanyvarietiesofcherriesinCherryGully.AccordingtothecurrentCountyAnnals,thereare11typesofcherries,includingpurplecherry,lacherry,huataicherry,vermilionskincherry,zaocherry,wucherry,sweetfruit,jiliuzi,andqianyecherry.Throughouthistory,literatihavewrittenmanypoemspraisingcherries.
EmperorTaizongofTangDynastyLiShiminnotonlylovedcherries,butalsoleavedapoemforfuturegenerations.
Thevermilionfruits,illuminatedbythesun,arelikesmallsunbeads.Theemeraldgreenbranchescoveredthestreamwater.Thetreewascoveredwithorioles,andbythecherrybrancheswerepalacemaidspickingcherries.Cherriesusedtobeapreciousdelicacyinthetombsofancestors,butnowtheyareofferedasarewardtotheircourtiersduetowealth.

产地环境
绛县位于中华文明的摇篮——古河东的东北端，中条山的西北麓。中条山横亘东南，紫金山俯卧境北，中部为塬，东西为盆地，地形地貌多样，平均海拔736米；土壤属中性或微碱性土质，光照充足，昼夜温差大，土层深厚、土质疏松、土壤肥沃、有机质含量高、土壤PH值6.5-7.5之间，属典型的大陆性季风气候；年日照时数2000-2500小时之间，气温合适，雨量适中，特别是5月份大樱桃成熟期降雨量稀少，保证了大樱桃果实饱满且无裂口，着色好，是绛县大樱桃独特成长的气候条件。
保护范围：绛县古绛镇、横水镇、郝庄乡、冷口乡、卫庄镇、么里镇、安峪镇、大交镇、陈村镇、南樊镇10个乡镇。
